The St. Petes area is home to over 50 breweries and a myriad of cozy coffee shops. Here is a guide to many of our favorites, mainly focused on the Grand Central, Warehouse District, and Downtown St. Petes areas.

Local Breweries

Cage logo.

Cage Brewing

Grand Central. Cage often has live music at night with a nice large outdoor, but covered, stage. Great place to see full bands. From what I've seen, they seem to have a heavy focus on Grateful Dead and Phish-like jam bands. They've got a really good West Coast Double IPA - King Krush. Right across the street from PAWs. Easy parking on 1st Ave South.

PAWs logo.

Pinella's Ale Works (PAWs)

Grand Central. Dog friendly, dog themed brewery. PAWs has many stouts, porters, and barrel aged beers. They also seem to have a stack of medals for them as well. Large beer menu, with more styles than I just mentioned. Right across the street from Cage. Parking should be easy.

Grand Central Brewing Logo

Grand Central Brewhouse

Trendy spot in the heart of Grand Central. Good people and dog watching. Beer menu focuses on European/German styles: Czech Lager, Italian Pilsner, Kolsch, Helles Lagers/Bock, Vienna Lager. Probably, the one place where you won't find an IPA. Oh wait, just checked, they have those too. Parking not bad even though it's right on Central Ave.

Bayboro Brewing Logo

Bayboro Brewing Company

Warehouse District. Close to Grand Central. Pretty large assortment of beers and types. Large space. They're back room is a small concert venue, and they get some pretty good acts in there. Good beer. Full Bird is a good IPA and probably their flagship beer. They also have a Belgian Tripel which is a pleasant surprise in a sea of IPAs. Easy parking; parking lot.

3 Daughters Logo

3 Daughters Brewing

Warehouse District. Big place, somewhat corporate. Beer is ok and can be found all over. But, they do have a good spot for bands and they have trivia nights and other interesting events. Parking lot.

Green Bench Logo

Green Bench Brewing Company

Downtown (the Edge District). Great IPAs, one might even call them NEIPAs. Lots of other stuff too. Cool outdoor beer garden. Sometimes they have movie nights out in the beer garden playing against the building. Adirondack chairs, fake grass, nice spot to relax on a nice day. Parking can be tough at times, but you can usually find a spot on North 1st within a block or two. It's also a hop, skip, and a jump away from Bodega, the greatest restaurant in all of St. Petes.

Cycle Brewing Logo

Cycle Brewing

Downtown on Central Ave. Hip small spot with interesting art on the walls. Staff are definitely cyclists. This is the spot for intense barrel aged imperial stouts. They will probably have at least 8 available on tap. Small sizes available. This place is a must go to every time I am in the area. Parking could be tough here.

St. Pete Brewing Logo

St. Pete Brewing Co.

Downtown, 1st Ave North. Not too far from Cycle and Overflow. They sometimes have events. We once found a comedy show here for $5. On my recent trip, they had a bunch of Berliner Weiss beers, raspberry and blackberry. The raspberry was quite delicious.

Overflow Brewing Logo

Overflow Brewing Company

Downtown. Near St. Pete Brewing and Cycle. Not too far from Green Bench. The building itself is a giant mural. Inside is basically an art gallery as well. This is your place for sours, but they have other stuff as well. All beers are $6.

Mastry's Brewing Logo

Mastry's Brewing Co.

Close to Treasure Island. They have a little bit of everything and mostly quite good. I recall an excellent Belgian Tripel served in appropriate glassware. Cool spot, old gas station, main road. Parking lot.

Gulfport Brewery Logo

Gulfport Brewery + Eatery

Gulfport. Right in the middle of Gulfport downtown area. Happy Hour 3-6 M-F. Good assorted selection, small beers available. Nice outdoor area, sometimes with live music. Cool neighborhood, little shops, near water, but somewhat touristy.

Dissent Craft Brewing Logo

Dissent Craft Brewing

Requires a little drive north of St. Petes. Pretty big assortment of beers. Small beers available. This place is not really close to much else, but is an interesting and good spot.

Cigar City Logo

Cigar City Brewing

Tampa. Near the airport. Usually, our stop before going back to the airport. They've gotten bigger and this spot resembles a large bar and restaurant now. Large beer menu of assorted styles. Parking lot.

Angry Chair Logo

Angry Chair Brewing

Tampa. Sort of near the airport. Pretty big spot, recently moved from their old smaller spot. Somewhat restaurant-like. They have food, and good size beer menu. Stouts, porters are their specialty and are excellent. Parking lot.

If I Brewed The World logo

If I Brewed the World

Sadly, on this last trip to St. Petes, I learned that If I Brewed the World has closed. I will miss Nettie the cat and some fun afternoons hanging there with the bartenders and bartendresses.

Grand Central. Nice cozy, really small spot. Bartender and bartendresses are usually pretty cool. They have a Berry Crunch beer that tastes just like Cap'n Crunch Crunch Berries; it's pretty wild. You may not need a full pour, but give it a taste. BOGO (buy one get one) beers usually on Thursdays ( check website). Also note, they are only open Thursday to Sunday.

Coffee Shops

Bandit Coffee Logo

Bandit Coffee Co.

Grand Central. Right on Central Ave. This place can get a fairly long line. Nice room and good people watching. Big long communal table in the middle with smaller tables along the side. Some outdoor seating as well. Pretty easy street parking and they actually have a parking lot. This place does not have wifi.
This place might be my favorite shop in the area.

Black Crow Coffee Logo

Black Crow Coffee Co.

Grand Central. An eclectic shop. This place has an almost junk yard feel to it (in a good way). Sometimes tough to find a table. Dog friendly. Zero waste place, pasta noodle straws. They have a second location that is also pretty cool too. The Grand Central location was once visible from Central Ave. However, there is now a building blocking that view. You will need to walk about a half-block down 22nd St. The entrance and patio will be in the alley. Parking on Central Ave or South 1st should be pretty easy.

Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails Logo

Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails

Downtown. Edge District. Trendy, sleek spot. Comfy seating. They also have coffee cocktails and other cocktails. Parking can sometimes be difficult on Central Ave. Getting a seat here can also be quite difficult.

Grassroots Kava House Logo

Grassroots Kava House

Downtown. Edge District. Very active spot. Great people watching with many interesting characters and dogs coming and going. This place is also a Kava joint. They have a number of seating options including a long bar, comfy chairs, window seating (to watch sidewalk activity), and seating outside on the sidewalk itself. I think they even have a second floor, but I've never been up there.

The Chelsea Logo

The Chelsea

I'm very sad to announce that the Chelsea has closed their doors. This was a great relaxing spot. I was hoping to someday buy a house in the Warehouse Arts District and have the Chelsea nearby.

Warehouse District. Small coffee shop with a large outdoor area as well. This shop has a pretty eclectic style and also sells all sorts of interesting items, like magnets, mugs, greeting cards, and books. Interesting stuff. Easy parking.
