The men's summer singles league is now underway. Thanks to Rick Anderson
for coordinating and administering.
Here are my results so far:
This is a great little league with a great bunch of guys/players. It’s good to be playing matches as I tend to get too comfortable playing in clinics and non-match play situations.
The mixed doubles league I was playing in is now over.
Our team didn't do so hot overall, but it was great fun and I met a lot
of new players. It was also a good opportunity to see a bunch of other
clubs. The Adirondack Club in Franklin was exceptionally nice.
Mandy was my partner for most of my matches. We won all our matches
except one, where we took quite a beating! I played another match with
Wenchen as my partner. We won that match and I think we played well
together.
I'm still playing the Singles Clinic at the Weymouth Club quite regularly. It's a great workout and there are many great players there. You get to hit a lot of balls and very competitively!
Have I told you all how much I love my racquets? I've been playing
for a long time, and this is the first racquet I've used that really
seems right for me. We're talking about the Wilson Blade V7 98 (see
picture to the left).
I've recently been experimenting with a number of strings, but think
I've now settled on RPM Blast (or rather the knock-off version made
by Klipper). Now I'm just trying to figure out if I like 16 or 17
gauge string better. I'm leaning toward 17, which is what I played
with for years when I was just playing with synthetic gut. String
breakage isn't as much an issue with these new poly strings.
